My 4th of July Manicure ft. Julep, OPI, and Shimmer Polish

Hi there!  I am officially on vacation for the 4th of July Holiday.  We have a fun weekend planned full of parties, fireworks, and boating.  My girls get really excited because this is the one time of the year they can stay up late - because fireworks don't start until dark a.k.a. around 10 p.m.

This is the manicure I'm sporting for the festivities.  I combined OPI Suzi Says Feng Shui (blue), Julep Nan (red), and Shimmer Polish Irene.

I've been seeing lots of 4th of July nail art, but if you know me, you know this is about as artsy as I get with my nails.  I've been enjoying combining two different colors with a glitter accent - here is the last one I did.
The first color I chose was Julep Nan.  Julep describes Nan as a "Nantucket Red Creme".  I wasn't aware that "Nantucket" was a color, so I Googled it.  Sure enough, when you Google Image "Nantucket Color," lots of things pop up with this muted red shade.  I was most excited about this color when I received my Julep box - I think it stood out because we called my Grandma "Nannie" and the name Nan reminds me of her.  She passed away about 6 years ago from Cancer :(

For my blue, I chose one of my favorite OPI's - Suzi Says Feng Shui.  SSFS is so opaque and beautiful.   It's one of my go-to blues.

The shimmer accent nail is Shimmer Polish Irene.  Irene is described as a "Champagne Golden Silver". Like most Shimmer Polishes, Irene is opaque in two coats.  No need to put anything underneath.  The fine shimmer makes such a great accent nail - I love it!

Here is a closeup of Irene.  Although the description talks about champagne, gold, and silver, you can also see a little teal/blue mixed in.

  5. Fun manicure for the 4th of July. That's actually my birthday but I don't think I have anything special planned on my nails. I'm working the whole day so there won't be time to do my nails unless I do them tomorrow, lol.

  9. Hi Essie - this is so so so beautiful!!!! And what a great combination of the red and blue - you reminded me of how much I love SSF - and how long I haven't used it. The glitter is the icing on the cake and I have to admit your nail art-free Skittelettes really are right up my alley - the options with what you can play are endless!!! Happy 4th July and enjoy your Holiday xxx

  15. Weeeell, I'm a bit late to the party, but better late than never, right? ;-) Yup this has got to be one of my fave 4th of July manis!! When I did my monthly "scope out the Julep boxes," Nan really jumped out at me. For some reason, I just LOVE that muted, bricky red color! Really not sure why, since I usually steer clear of reds. And your "pic heavy post" is fabulous!! I say, the more pics the better - especially since yours are so great! I was like, ooh #4 is my FAVE - no, #2, no, #5 - GAH!!! They're all so flawless & artful! I hope you & your fam had a wonderful 4th & holiday weekend. :-)
Btw, isn't it great when a polish can remind you of a person? I have a tribute post waiting in the wings (because I want it to be just right) & the polish name totally reminds me of my friend.
