Happy Friday! When I saw Thuy from The Painted Ninja post swatches of JulieG 9 to 5, I knew I had to have it. There was one thing standing in my way...we don't have Rite Aids near me:( I made a sad little comment under her post saying "I wish we had Jessie's Girl around me". Thuy ended up emailing me asking if she could send me a few...I happily accepted her offer ;)
As Thuy mentioned in her review, 9 to 5 is pretty streaky. Like her, I had to apply three coats and I can still see some unevenness in person. Despite the annoying application, it's such a pretty color. It's so bright and fun on the nails. My nails really stand out and like Thuy said, it makes you look tan...bonus!
9 to 5 reminds me of Essie Van D' Go (wow, scary swatch...that was pretty early on in my blogging career...eeek), but I think Van D' Go is a little more pink (it's also very streaky). Perhaps I will do a little comparison using all of my peach polishes. Oh, Lime Crime Peaches <3 Cream may be close as well, but it looks a bit more orange.
If you are looking for a bright peach polish...and you have a Rite Aid near you, I would recommend this one. Yes, the formula could be better, but the little extra work that it requires is worth it...to me, at least:)
A big thank you to Thuy for sending this to me - along with the other two beauties!
left to right: Holla-Peno, 9 to 5, and Shark's Cove
Have a fabulous weekend and thanks for stopping by!

I just got 9 to 5 and Shark's Cove...and a whole bunch more, haha. I'm in love with the JulieG polishes. I don't have a Rite-Aid near me either!!!! Thanks for the post!

Deletei can't see any uneveness in your swatches. it look good on you and yes, you do look tanner. :) i still have to try my limecrime peaches n cream. i really like those pastel neon shades and 9 to 5 fits right into that. glad you are enjoying your polishes, essie!

Thanks Yun! Have a great day.
DeleteHi Essie - peach and you - a perfect match!!! It looks wonderful on you and while the Lime Crime is certainly more into the face, this one has a liveliness that has a lot more elegance and sophistication without going for "thin lips" if you know what I mean!!! I ALWAYS experience the same issues with peach colored polishes (grrrr) but I usually apply two coats of a thick base coat and can eliminate like 3/4 of the streakiness - at least it helps getting the second coat on even - maybe this might be of help??? Have a lovely Saturday :-)
ReplyDeleteyeah, I don't use a base coat at all, perhaps I should try a few coats and see what happens. I also heard that it works to do one coat of polish and then a matte top coat and then another coat of polish. I should really try that too. Thanks for your comment Christine!
DeleteThis is so loverly on you (nod to Emily/My Fair Lady)! It's such a pretty and wearable shade. Peaches skeer me a little. I've learned to embrace them in blush form but I'm just not sure how they'd pan out on my nailses... this looks like a good one to try, though, and I do have a Rite Aid close by :D
ReplyDeleteYou are right, I don't see you wear peaches much. I would love to see.
DeleteOne of my most favorite peaches ever, but I'm staring at Shark's Cove...I think I need it! I'm in love and I haven't even seen a swatch o.0
ReplyDeleteYes, it's a pretty awesome color! I did wear Shark's Cove once but didn't take pics. I shall wear it again soon!
DeleteOMG,this color is so amazing and your nails are a dream.
ReplyDeleteI really like your blog...you are one of the best nail blogs I've ever seen.*__*

DeleteLove that bright peach! Beautiful nails.
ReplyDeleteThank you:)
DeleteLove this color!! Revlon ColorStay "Peaches and Cream" is another peach color that I fell in love with. It's a bit bright but so gorgeous and the formula was actually really nice for being a cheap-ish brand. :) Love your blog! --Patricia
ReplyDeleteI think Revlon has some great polishes! Thanks for stopping by:)
