Knock Your Socks Off - A Triple Post with my Friends

My, my, it's great to be blogging again.  We had some horrible storms in Minnesota on Thursday night and lost power until Saturday afternoon.  Call me high maintenance, but I can't handle life without water, air conditioning, lights, internet, and tv.  I have a whole new understanding for what people went through, and are still going through, in Oklahoma and other cities that have experienced damaging storms...at least I still have my house.  As I was cleaning the yard on Friday, I kept thinking about how lucky I was to be only cleaning up sticks and leaves, and that my family was safe.

As I was getting my yard and house back in order on Saturday, my two friends Liesl and Emily were patiently waiting for me to paint my nails.  We planned a triple post a week ago based on one of Liesl's socks.  Liesl posted a horrific ;) knee injury on her FB page...I still can't really see the injury in the photo and think she was just looking for attention...ha.  The most exciting part of the photo was the totally awesome sock she was wearing.  I immediately thought about the polishes I had for each color of the sock and asked if they would like to do a sock-inspired manicure.  Obviously they said yes, so here is mine.
Julep Alma, Zoya Rocky, Julep Kate, Pure Ice Kiss Me Here, Butter London Rosie Lee
Below is a picture of the infamous knee and sock.  Liesl requested that we not lead off our post with a picture of her knee, but I'm sure she wouldn't mind if you clicked the "Pin It" button in the lower right hand corner ;)
Liesl's Awesome Sock
Below are the colors I used.  I was surprised to grab Julep Alma again! I didn't think I would use her for a while, if ever...but the lucky girl made the cut.
Julep Alma, Zoya Rocky, Julep Kate, Pure Ice Kiss Me Here, Butter London Rosie Lee
I've been loving the mismatched nails lately and decided to throw a glitter in the mix.  I haven't used Butter London Rosie Lee for quite a while and I think I need to add some thinner...it is getting pretty goopy.  If you are looking for an opaque pink glitter, Rosie Lee is a winner in my book!
I enjoyed working with Liesl and Emily on this triple post and I hope to find more inspiration to do it again in the future.  Let's just hope Emily doesn't bruise her butt and decide to show us...unless she has some cute bloomers ;)

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

  1. LOVELEEEEE!!!! These mismatched manis are GREAT!! :-D Especially yours, since you do such a terrific job with polish application and cleanup, not to mention color accuracy, so each nail is pristine polish perfection! :-D
And um can I just say: BWAHAHAHAHA - I will most assuredly NOT bruise my butt, and even if I did, I shall not be showcasing it on FB, even for sympathy. ;-) Btw, it would be hilarious if someone pinned Liesl's knee...what title of board would that be on, I wonder? Socks to buy?? Running injuries to avoid? lol!
On a serious note, you're right, it sure makes a person thankful and well aware that things could've been much worse! So glad you are all safe!

  3. BAHAHAHAHA!! Yes, Emily, please don't fall on your heinie and all that and all that, kthanks. Es, you knocked it out of the park and actually managed to make this whole thing look cool, like I knew you would ♥ Totally worth waiting for your power to come back on, and I forgive the pin it button on my "bum" knee, lolol.

    1. I shall try not to!! I did that once in high school (slippery tile floor in the deli I worked at - super huge ouch - and super huge bruise!) and I don't really care to repeat the experience. Although I can just envision us doing something as crazy as bruise-inspired manis. :-P Essie, the fun is just gettin' started!! :-D muahahaHA!!
P.S. how do you make those actual hearts instead of the "lame" ones I've always done?

    2. I would like to know too. The only way I know how is the < and the 3. In FB it turns into a heart, but not on the blog. Share your secret @Liesl.

  10. Hi Essie - this idea of the three of you really kncks my socks off!!! And Liesl: no stripes can be hideous EVER - this comes from a stripe addict!!! About this knee - I hefted my eyball to the screen and still could not really see anything - maybe I got distracted by the sock continuously ;-P!!!! I just love the mismatched mani - Essie you rock!!!
