Although we haven't had any "Spring" weather in Minnesota yet, I thought I'd at least make my nails look a bit Springy. This is Essie Turquoise & Caicos with OPI Crown Me Already (Glitter) and a Chevron Jamberry Nail Shield.

I swear this looks way better in person. I just couldn't get a good photo of it. Seriously, I took at least 200 shots and this is the best I could get. I'm wondering if it's because of the cloudy/gloomy weather? I almost didn't post this, but I just love it so much in real life that I wanted to share!
I posted in one of my Facebook groups that I have a love-hate relationship with Turquoise & Caicos. I think this is like 4 or 5 coats of it. It's soooo sheer, but it's so juicy and pretty! Others in the group agreed, but then a few people said theirs is opaque in 2 coats. I'm wondering if I should pick up another bottle and see if it's any better?? What is your experience with it?
I've been loving the Chevron look lately and am hoping to find a top or a purse with that print:) I need to do some serious shopping! I feel like my wardrobe is all black and grey...
I hope the weather in your neck of the woods is nice and Springy!

This looks amazing Essie! I don't see any flaws in your pictures so you're just being too critical of yourself haha! I got rid of Turquoise and Caicos because it was sheer and needed too many coats to build opacity. Then a few months ago I picked up another bottle and it is much better to use so it might be worth trying that :)
ReplyDeleteThank you:) Okay, I think I will pick up another and see how it is. Thanks!
DeleteThis is classic and gorgeous! Love it! And your photos are beautiful, girl! =)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!
DeleteI think it looks gorgeous! I love the different combo of colors and how they all work together.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a fan of sheers either, I'm just not a VNL girl. I hope spring finds you soon!
I hope so too. And I agree about the sheers. Someone mentioned maybe putting down one coat, a top coat, and then waiting for it to dry and putting on another coat. I may try that at some point.
DeleteI love chevrons and this mani. Great combo of colors and finishes. I've never picked up T&C because of how sheer people have said it is. I'd love to hear about the differences if you pick up another bottle. I wonder how it would look if you layered two coats over a similar base color.
ReplyDeleteI'll let you know. And yes, that could work putting down another color first. I wonder if it would change the muted tone of it.
DeleteTHIS was the photo you had trouble with?! Essie, this is seriously gorgeous! Turquoise and Caicos looks perfect on you...I love how it looks muted on you. I haven't tried my bottle yet, I hope it looks like this on me!!
ReplyDeleteI wish I had this problem! So beautiful! I can't even... :)
Exactly! It looked "muted" because the darn photo is washed out! LOL. No, it really is a nice muted turquoise. I really do love it. I bet it won't be one of those neon looking mints on you. Try it! Thanks for the compliment though:)
DeleteLooks gorgeous to me, girlie :) I've never looked twice at Turquoise and Caicos, but now I want to! It looks amazing with the jamberry and the silver accent. I'm so glad you opted to share this one, after all ♥♥
ReplyDeleteThank you:) I really do love the final look of Turquoise & Caicos. It's so much prettier than Mint Candy Apple and some of the other minty-turquoise polishes. It's a must have.

ReplyDeleteOMG LOVEEEE
ReplyDeleteThanks!!!!
DeleteWow, fantastic mani. OPI Crown Me Already is a major lemming of mine and this just confirmed it :) That nail shield is fantastic!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Crown Me Already comes in handy quite often!
DeleteThis is incredibly gorgeous! Might copy you on this one. ;)
ReplyDeleteFeel free! I found inspiration for it on Pinterest - I think it was pink? Or maybe pink and brown?
DeleteLovely combo! The chevron design is great!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I'm loving Chevron.
DeleteBlack and grey wardrobe, eh? You and I could be twins! There is an up side, though: Practically everything we choose to accessorize with that combo works beautifully, as is the case here...
ReplyDeleteI love this mani, Essie. I could sit back and see the other 190+, quite happily.
Your chevron is crazy perfection. Someday, I'll figure out how to do one without it looking like an abstract version.
Beautiful job!
yes, I guess accessorizing black and grey is pretty fun:) Thanks for the compliment on the mani! No, you don't want to see the other pictures, believe me. And you know the Chevron is a nail shield right? I could never do that on my own! Although, I did buy some zig zag craft scissors to try it with tape! Haven't done it yet though...
DeleteBeautiful, beautiful, beautiful!!!! I am floored over this Skittlette - and I recognized your hands (of course) immediately and just HAD to pin it on my inspiration board - I hope you don't mind!!!! I don't own Turqoise and Carcois but have exactly the same issues with Lapis of Luxury. Now that was not really helpful, right :-(. My spring dresses (yes, I am a dress girl) are ready to jump out of their winter cave and here in Switzerland we nearly had a spring day, i.e. Booties instead of Boots - I hope you get some spring soon!!! <3
ReplyDeleteI have thought about getting Lapis of Luxury. It's so pretty! But maybe now I won't. Oh, you are a dress girl huh? I don't even think I own 1 dress... I'm glad you are having a nearly spring day, lucky duck!
DeleteI referred to my Pinterest Inspiration Board!!! Sorry I just SKIPPED a whole chunk of a sentence
ReplyDeleteI knew you meant Pinterest:) I can read your mind!
DeleteCute mani! I love the way you mixed-and-matched the colors and patterns! :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm still waiting for spring over here. We had a really nice weekend 2 weeks ago, but now we're being punished with lower-than-average temps and tons of rain. *sigh*

Thanks! I would rather have rain than snow, but I hear ya!
DeleteAh the beauty devil that is Turquoise and Caicos! It was the first Essie I got, and it put me off buying more for months...glad I gave them another chance though :) This is beautiful as always xx
ReplyDeleteThank you. You know, I have been impressed with my latest Essie's. They are very opaque in 2 coats!
DeleteGorgeous and I think the photos look great x
ReplyDeleteThank you:)
DeleteWhen I saw this I was like ! I need those polishes in my life
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job
Thanks a lot! It was a fun look:)
DeleteThese are just fabulously gorgeous! Love it!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much:)
DeleteIt's a beautiful mani - spring isn't here either - but I crave pastel colors LOL
ReplyDeleteIn our hearts it's Spring:)
