I figured there would be a huge amount of reviews for Zoya's PixieDust Collection in the next few days, so I decided to make mine a little different. I tried a few different looks with Zoya Dahlia and Mira....with and without top coat.

Here is some information taken from the Zoya website about the PixieDust Collection:
Infused with magic and wonder! The latest "must-have" nail polish finish - textured, matte, and sparkling! This newly developed formula is sure to captivate with a magical sparkle and sugary finish like no other. The color experts at Zoya have created six, long-wearing stunners for the introduction of this enchanting look.

You aren't suppose to put a top coat on, but I guess I'm a rule breaker ;-O
Why the top coat you ask? I diagnosed myself with a phobia called "Trypophobia". It's the fear of clusters of holes (if you are scared of them too...DON'T Google Images Trypophobia!!!!) Actually, just the word "clusters" gives me the shivers. Ick. I can't even look at "caviar nails". So when I first saw this collection, I was a little nervous about the texture and knew I would have to use a top coat.

Below is a photo I took of Dahlia on my nails without a top coat....see, I was brave for a second:) I was actually surprised at how sparkly it was. The texture was very different, but I liked it more than I thought I would. It felt sandy and would take a little while to get used to - but because it was sparkly (hard to capture in photos) I could see myself wearing it on its own....maybe:)

Below is a photo using the Julep Freedom Polymer Top Coat. I have a feeling that you need a thicker top coat like the Julep one I used, or the PixieDust will "eat" it and end up bumpy.
I actually love this look!

And if you aren't interested in the PixieDust polishes, I thought I'd show you a pic of Zoya Mira on its own. Isn't she pretty?
What do you think of the new Zoya PixieDust Collection? Are you planning on picking them up? I have the rest of the collection to show you and I am pretty excited to try them.
If you would like to try a Zoya polish, feel free to click my link at the bottom of this site. If you are a new customer, you will receive a free bottle of nail polish (you may not be able to get a PixieDust polish right away with that code - you'll have to check). If you add two more polishes to your order, you will get free shipping.
Note: Zoya Dahlia was provided to me for my honest review. See my Disclosure Policy for more information.

o_O I just got three of the PixieDusts in the mail today, but I have other stuff to swatch before I will get to them. I "have" trypophobia too, so now I am concerned, lol. I first realized it many years ago when that awful photoshopped image of the lotus pod boob was going around. UGH! I know your pain.
ReplyDeleteDahlia does look nice with topcoat though!
EEEHHH, the word "Pod" freaks me out too! icky icky. I kindof like Dahlia the best with the top coat;)
DeleteGorgeous as usual. Mira is one of my favorite polishes. When I was looking at your post my husband came in. First he complimented your photos, he used to be a photographer and now does it as a hobby. Then he went on and on about how cool the Pixie Dust polish was. I'm gonna have to pick that one up now :)
ReplyDeleteOh cool! Well thank you to your husband:) This is my first time wearing Mira and I really do love it. Purple has been my favorite color my whole life and this is just a straight up purple and it's perfect.
DeleteHi Essie, I absolutely love your mani!!! For my part I love the textured finishes, I find them edgy and classy. I have so far ordered one polish from the Pixie Dust Collection - Nyx, and anxiously awaiting its arrival as I type this comment. If I like it I certainly will get myself another one or two or even three???? And cudos to your bravery!!! Mira is one of my favorite purple polishes and sadly neglected :-P!!! Reading Sarah's comment I find it timely to mention that I really like your photos too, totally unique out there and absolutely authentic!!! Have a lovely weekend xxx
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your compliment. You make me feel happy:) I sure hope you like the PixieDust - can't wait to see it on your blog!
DeleteHi Essie Rae, I love the glitter tips combo. It reminds me of city skyline at night. Love these swatches and I agree with the other commenters about your photography, it is wonderful. : D
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! And city skyline is such a great way to describe it - you are right.
DeleteI absolutely love how you used the Pixie Dust! So unique, and it really looks fantastic, especially over that gorgeous purple. Zoya's lucky to have you reviewing their stuff, friend :) :)
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of trypophobia, so I googled. Geurghh. I feel bad for you and Cait.
I knew I would have some crazy people googling it. Yuck! Thanks for saying that about Zoya - I really love their products.
DeleteI love the glitter tips! Dahlia looks fantastic against the purple! :-)
ReplyDeleteOh gosh, I don't have trypophobia, but I couldn't resist googling, and the pictures even gave me an icky feeling. *shivers*

argh....I hope I never see those images again! I went to a movie the other day and saw a lady with a purse that had all kinds of big silver bumps on it....it was HORRIBLE!
DeleteI couldn't help but google trypophobia too, I've never heard of it!! Fortunately I don't have it, but you'd be surprised what other things make me want to crawl out of my skin... I like Dahlia!!! But I wish a lot more colors were available!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure they will come out with more colors if they hear that people like them. Thanks for stopping by!
