My nails still aren't up to par...come on grow, grow! While we are waiting, my BBFF (Best Blogger Friend Forever) Liesl, offered to provide me with a guest post. Thank you soooo much Liesl. Check out her awesome blog - Liesl Loves Pretty Things. Not only does she have the best nail shape and takes beautiful pictures; her writing style alone, is worth your time. I learn so much from her posts because she is a human dictionary! Take a look...
Hi Essie's readers!! I'm sure you remember the China Glaze duochromes from last fall. It received mixed reviews because the colors weren't in-your-face crazy shifty, but I thought the three that were supposedly dupes for Deborah Lippmann's Mirrored Chromes were especially gorgeous. Ever since seeing this post from Emma at Manicurity, I've wanted to do something with two of the corresponding China Glaze colors, Swanky Silk and No Plain Jane.

Here's my considerably less artistic but still totally fun to look at take on the two. I just love how these colors play off each other.
They're both gorgeous shades, from Swanky Silk's rose gold shantung-like finish to the dusky, dusty olive-tinged violet of No Plain Jane. But something happens when you put them together. There's a duality between these colors that makes No Plain Jane look like the negative to Swanky Silk's color print, to me, and it's fascinating and beautiful.
Thanks for reading, and thank you, Essie, for allowing me the honor of guest posting again!

What a beautiful manicure and fun post! You rock!
Have a great day everyone.

I totally liked that collection even though it wasn't as duochromey as I thought it would be!! Well done, Liesl!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Gosia :) Yay, I'm in great company!! I love a strong shift as much as anybody, but the subtlety of these makes them a different thing, entirely, more elegant, somehow.
DeleteThese look great together!
ReplyDeleteI think so! ;)
DeleteThese 2 shades are made for each other! :) I love the double accent look.
ReplyDeleteI so agree! They're so cool together :) And I really like the double accent thing, too, like skittletteettes, hahaha ;p
DeleteWhat a great idea Liesl!!!! This is such a huge difference if you see them as pals next to each other. I also have No Plain Jane and was not really thrilled when worn alone but I think yours is the way to go with it!!!!
ReplyDeleteYay, I hope you try it! It's always fun to be able to breathe new life into older polishes. :)
DeleteI never thought of the two colors together, but you're right Liesl, they do look like negatives of each other and they go together wonderfully! :-)

Isn't it cool?! I've been on the lookout for other colors that do that ever since ;)
DeleteWow!!! These nail colors are both stunning! Love both colors for I find them elegant and classy. They both look great together. Love it!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you like it! :) And I love these colors for the same reason ;)
DeleteI love these two together!
ReplyDeleteMe, too ♥ Glad you like :)
DeleteThis combo is so perfect. I think it really elevates each of the colors! No need to be artistic...it is great the way you have it! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for your words, Any :) I think so, too :)
