Essie Lady Like and OPI You Dont Know Jacques

This is the lovely Essie Lady Like with an accent nail of OPI You Don't Know Jacques.

Essie Lady Like OPI You Dont Know Jacques

I always had my eye on Essie Lady Like, but I never bought it because I thought it was a dupe for OPI Tickle My France-y.  Of course, once I decided I wanted it anyway, I couldn't find it anywhere.  I always checked the Essie sections at Target, Walgreens, and Ulta, but could never find it.

Essie Lady Like OPI You Dont Know Jacques

One day I was reading a blog (Lawless Lacquer) and she was talking about how she had a polish on her wish list for such a long time that she was about to give up on it...until one day it fell into her lap.  She then asked if there was a polish like that for us.  I commented that Essie Lady Like is one of those polishes...I have wanted it for so long and am close to giving up on it. After I commented, Lynn (from Lawless Lacquer) emailed me saying that she had Lady Like and would be willing to sell it to me.  Needless to say, I jumped right on that one.  So I guess it finally fell into my lap!

I was so surprised by the opacity of Lady Like.  Essie can be a bit streaky, especially with the lighter colors.  But this one was perfect.  Two coats is all you need.  And you all know about You Don't Know Jacques.  That is such a classic OPI shade.  Opaque in two coats and looks great with all skin tones.

So I'd now like to ask you.  Is there a polish that you have wanted for so long that you are about to give up on?  If so, keep looking - it just may fall into your lap some day :)

  1. Hi Essie, what a delicate combination and the Essie suits you soooo nicely!!! Yes, I had such a lemming: Enchanted Polish Austin Powers - ist was basically a similar start like with you - first I thought golden polishes don't suit me. By the time I changed my mind in vanished from the surface of Earth and I finally gave up - and THEN its re-launch was announced and lucky me snagged a bottle when it hit Pshiiit Boutique!!!! I could not bring myself to open it just yet though - LOL

  2. OPI's Parlez-Vous OPI is like that for me! The only place I've seen it is on ebay for over $40 a bottle. I've never even really seen it in person, only blogs and swatches!
I don't own any pink polishes yet....this one is very pretty though. I like the dusty colors but tend to go towards lavenders and seafoams.

  3. Gorgeous duo, Essie :) They're so complimentary of each other. So awesome the way Lady Like fell into your lap, too.
Turquoise Opal is like the holy grail of Nail Prisms. I think I saw it on evilbay once within the last year for $160 for 8, and I would have had to buy the whole lot. It might have just been one bottle, I don't quite remember. Either way, it wasn't happening. I'm thinking I'll have to wait until Sally Hansen decides to release a bunch again, if they do. Until then, my eyes are constantly peeled... I'd like to say I wouldn't pay more for it than I do for an RBL, including shipping, but you never know what you're capable of in a moment of weakness, lol.

    2. Ok, just googled it. You know there are dupes out there. The Ozotic? But I know - there is nothing like the original thing:)
