Julep Donna and Ulta Plum Perfect

Hello:)  I would like to share Julep Donna and Ulta Plum Perfect (accent nail) with you.

My original plan was to try Julep Donna on its own, but I had Plum Perfect in my purse because we were traveling during the holiday. While cleaning out my purse, I noticed how cool it looked with Donna...so I threw it on.

I received Donna in my November Julep Bombshell Box (here).  Donna is the reason I chose this box.  I knew I didn't have any dupes in my collection.  I thought maybe it was a dupe for OPI Suzi Says Feng Shui, but Donna is a bit more teal.

Of course, Donna was so easy to apply and was perfectly opaque in two coats.  Ulta Plum Perfect is such a cool color and applies just as perfect as Donna - 2 coats.

Julep polishes can be found on their website as well as at some Sephora stores.  If you haven't tried Julep yet, feel free to use my referral link on the bottom of my blog to receive your first box for a penny.  As far as Ulta polishes go, I have raved about them in the past and I still appreciate their range of colors, formula, and price tag.  They always have awesome deals at Ulta and I highly recommend these polishes if you want to try a color or sheen that you aren't too sure about.

I would like to close my post with a "hey there" to some of my family.  Until Thanksgiving Day, my blog was a secret in my "real" life.  A few months ago, my 13 year old niece was at my house and I decided to tell her about my blog.  She then told my mom and my mom told me she thought it was really neat.  She has now purchased a bunch of new colors (I think Butter London is her favorite) and has a cute little notebook that she carries in her purse with her wish list.  Her collection is growing and I look forward to sharing this passion with her.

My mom has shared my blog with her co-workers and also encouraged me to tell my family at Thanksgiving.  I'm not quite sure why I have kept it a secret for almost a year - it is a bit of an odd hobby for people who aren't into nail polish or blogging. I have to say, I am pleased with the positive feedback I have received from my family.  Perhaps I will start telling some of my friends....we shall see :)  I just wanted to say "hi" to my new readers from my "real life" and welcome!  Feel free to comment below any time:)

  1. Gorgeous polishes! I have to say, my blog was a secret for its first month! I just felt weird telling people that I blogged about nail polish, but I don't care if people think it's weird! I love it and I love the people I've been able to "meet" through blogging!!

    1. Oh cool! I hope you like it as much as I do. It's nice to be able to pick your box each month and skip if you don't like any of them. I haven't skipped very often though:)

  3. That's a really great combo!! I gotta say, I've never used Julep or Ulta brands... maybe it's time? =)
I'm a little envious about your ability to share your passion with your family and friends! When my family saw my 'stash', they looked at me with this weird look... if they found out I had a blog, I'm afraid I would be involuntarily committed to a mental hospital! =))) They're not as cool as yours =((

    1. Yes, I think it's time :) Well, my family hasn't seen my stash. I'm afraid that may be a little too much for them, LOL. And I haven't told any friends yet so don't be too envious. My friends do know that I have lots of polish and think I have a problem so that's why I'm a little worried to tell them about my blog. We shall see. Now with more of my family knowing, I'm afraid it might spread... But yes, my family is cool and I'm sure yours is too :)

  7. I am so happy you had positive feedback from your family it was completely opposite for me. I only waited a month to get in the swing of things before I shared my blog with my family and friends. I got called weird and all kinds of different names. They are the real losers for not liking my blog. You are right some people just don't understand. Strangers (new blog friends have been my biggest supporters. I love those two colors together :)

  8. I feel ya on the keeping the blog a secret. Only a handful of people know about my blog, and they only know because my husband tells them! Bless his heart, he just thinks it's so cool and is so happy I have a hobby now. I always clam up when he brings it up in front of people. I'm so glad your receiving positive feedback because you blog, and nails, rock!!

    1. I know what you mean about clamming up. Whenever my husband and I are out with friends and someone brings up nail polish, he looks at me like I should tell them about it...but I never have. One of these days I'll spill the beans:)

  9. Very Essie-esque :-) I love it!!! I am so happy for your wonderful experience with your Blog!!! My mum is a tomboy and my knack for girly thngs were always sort of a mystery to her ;-))) Of course my BF knows and he is very supportive - he always rates my choices and it was him suggesting to buy Helmers :-). Some of my friends know and they are very supportive. One of them is involved in Media Business and gave je plenty of advice for the layout and content!!!! But it was people like you who in the end encouraged me to take the step into blogging. A big thank you to YOU, Essie <3

    1. Good, I'm glad you are enjoying blogging:) It is really fun and I'm glad your friends are supportive. I'm sure mine would be too, I just feel weird telling them. You are lucky your BF encouraged you to buy Helmers. I would love some to store my polish. Maybe some day. My husband thinks it's cool but he doesn't really say much. He just asked what I wanted for Christmas and I said "nail polish" and he said "no, you have enough". So then I said "so you don't want to know what I want for Christmas???" Hello?? And shouldn't he know by now that one never has enough nail polish?

    2. LOL thank you for sharing!!! Mark is happy that he does not have to think gifts anymore ;-). How do you store your polishes? Wie have a tiny appartment and I previously had clusters of nailpolish hidden away all over the place, I think he just got tired of stumbling all the time and unexpectently over them :-)

    3. I store mine in a dresser drawer - the bottom one. We have built-in dressers in our closet so that's where they are. Before that, I stored them in those Snapware Containers from Target. The big guys. Some day I will grab some Helmers. Actually, I would love if they had black ones to match my bedroom...

Plum Perfect is perfect, tee hee, with Donna! I think I'm going to have to start up my Julep membership again.

    1. I knew you'd appreciate that she likes Butter London :) You keep saying that about Julep - do it already. You can always keep skipping until you see something you like. And now with the rewards points, you can get some free polish at times.
