My Pink Wednesday manicure for Breast Cancer Awareness is Pink Parka with a Sally Hansen Salon Effects Nail Polish Strip in "Check, Please!"
I was in a bit of a panic because it has been raining in Minnesota for a few days. Actually, it's more like misting - how I picture Seattle weather to be. Part of me is happy that it's raining because we haven't had rain for 3 months. But the nail blogger part of me is annoyed. Good quality pictures are hard to achieve without natural light. When deciding what to wear for a rainy Pink Wednesday, I remembered that neons don't do well in bright lights. So I pulled out Essie Pink Parka. I'm sure Pink Parka was ready to hibernate for the winter - but I woke her up:)
For a little excitement, I decided to add a nail polish strip. I have never tried these before, but was in Target the other day and noticed they had some on clearance for $4.25. I think they are usually like $9.99 (a little spendy). I was a little nervous to try them, but they are soooo easy. I think I'll keep using them for an accent nail to prolong the box of strips...yes, I can be a bit cheap at times.
This manicure may surprise some of you because I don't do much for "nail art". I know, I know, this is cheating, but it's a little artsy isn't it??

OOOHh, I will have to check Target out for the stripes... I'm pretty bad at nail art too... stickers or stripes I can handle those! :) Love your mani!
ReplyDeleteThey only had a few on clearance. I may pick up some more with my Ulta 20% coupon:) I hope you like them as much as I do.
DeleteThis is simply adorable! I love the bright pink with the checkered accent nail! Totally cute and a great idea!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteI love the accent nail. I just ordered some nail stickers on drugstore.com (40% off and free shipping over $15 purchase). I got the sparkly leopard ones. I think I'll stick to using them as accents as well
ReplyDeleteWere they Sally Hansen? Or another brand? Let me know how they work.
DeleteYep sally hansen. I don;t have the heart to take my current polish off (illamasqua creator) to try them. Maybe in a week or so. I hope they are easy to use!
DeleteI just looked that up and it's beautiful. It looks like the L'Oreal I just posted a few days ago. I loved wearing it:)
DeleteVery pretty. The nail art sticker is amazing with this pink. And ohh is it really cheating? LOL...
ReplyDeleteWell, if you ask a nail artist, probably:)
DeleteLove this! I have those strips in leopard! I feel like I am cheating a little too when I use them, but I am just not that good at nailart ;)

You are only a cheater in the nail polish world.
DeleteI love it! Its like early 90s chic meets Nascar LOL! Very cute combo!
ReplyDeleteYou are right. It does remind me of Nascar:)
DeletePink Parka is highly appropriate for cooler weather simply because of its name, lol. A neon made for winter. :) And this looks really cool! You did such a nice job with the nail strips.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, I didn't even think of that. I need to consult with you when I am writing my posts:) The nail strip was way easier than I thought.
DeleteI have Pink Parka too! Isn't it great?! The prettiest bright pink ever!
ReplyDeleteYes, I do love it.
DeleteWhat a great idea to use the strips as accent nails! I really love it that way..not to overwhelming! Great job!
ReplyDeleteExactly. I like the understated look:)
DeleteWhat a fun idea to wear neon in automn, will definitvely follow your suggestion ;-))))
ReplyDeleteHave fun!
DeleteI am in love with this mani. Great job!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much.

Thank you.
DeleteSo cute! I love this!
ReplyDeleteThanks:)
Deletereally beautiful manicure! <3 come see mine, too :)
ReplyDeleteWill do!
DeleteThis is perfect. I love the neons making an appearance again, and the checks are fantastic with this pink.
ReplyDeleteThis gives me a vintage feeling. I love how you used just one of the strips, I thought of doing the same thing to make them last longer! I haven't bought any yet though. I just like painting too much. But this effect is gorgeous!
Do it. They are so easy. I'm wondering how long it will last. I usually paint my nails every day, but maybe I'll leave this puppy on and see how long it stays without chipping.
DeleteGreat combo, love it!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much.
DeleteI am seriously in love with this mani!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Amy!
DeleteI use nail polish strips when my nails are in their splitting phase. They work great and last forever, but you have to use them all because the rest dry out and will not work within about an hour and a half. Since Sally Hansen nail strips come in 2 separate little sealed packages per box, you will be able to use the other package of them in the future, but the ones left from the package you used won't be usable now. :(
ReplyDeleteBut I like your combo! :)
Really????? Shooot! I opened both because I used the same size strip on each hand. That's not good. :( I wish you could buy one at a time then. I wonder if I put them in a sealed container after I open them???
DeleteYeah...yikes, I hate that for you.:( What I do when my nails are short is find the width that fits and cut one strip in half, and it's always more than adequate coverage...this means I get 2 manis out of them because I wear them on all my nails. But the little packages are sealed with something to preserve them...I'm sure you noticed it had a smell to it when you opened it. Once they are opened, you can't seal them back again.
Delete:( Thanks for the info. I will keep that in mind for the future. Luckely they were 50% off!
DeleteI sooooo want this color!!!!!!
ReplyDeletethis mani "checks" :D
:)
DeleteLove the monochromatic look!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteOh my that pink is so pretty!
ReplyDeleteYes, it's fun. Especially in the summer.
Deletesuch a pretty pink! and i love the nail strip! i'll have to go see if they're on clearance at a target near me!
ReplyDeleteYes, do it:)
DeleteHow fun is this! I love it!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeletePerfect name of the polish for a rainy day!!! I love these bright pinks, and although its getting colder it's so hard to say goodbye to them!!
ReplyDeleteI've never tried to use any of those stick on tips... You say they're easy so maybe I should?? They do look very tempting...
Great pink nails for a great cause :)
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteThat is the cutest mani! I love how you used the strip and that Essie color is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I enjoyed wearing it!
DeleteThis is adorable! I love that pink!
