Saturday Sweets! Bridal Shower Cake

Hello Everyone!  I would like to show you a cake I made for my friend's bridal shower.

Bridal Shower Cake

It might be hard to tell but there are sparkles on the wedding dress:)

Bridal Shower Cake

This cake made a big trip because the shower was at a cabin on a Saturday and one of my other friends and I decided it would be fun to make a weekend of it and stayed in a hotel the night before.  Needless to say, we had a little too much fun on Friday night and were a bit tired for the shower and bachelorette on Saturday night :-/  I had to bring the cake into the hotel room so it wouldn't melt in the hot car and if you have ever moved a cake, you know how scary it is.  You feel like you are going to trip, something will fall on it, etc.  I have driven a 3 tiered cake about 60 miles and that wasn't fun either.  Every bump and turn makes you cringe...

This is a double chocolate cake with chocolate ganache filling.  Buttercream icing and fondant accents.

This cake was inspired by one I saw on CakeCentral by "GWU90" and I thought it was so fun for a shower:)  I get most of my ideas from cakes I see online.  There are so many talented decorators out there!

Well, we are off to bring our kids to an amusement park today.  Have a good one!

  2. You can definitely see the sparkles if you enlarge it. Another gorgeous creation, and I love the color scheme on this one.
We had a five-tier for our wedding and I was soooo nervous about how the bakery would transport it. We got married in a vineyard, so of course there are going to be a lot of hills any time you're in wine country. I may or may not have had a couple nightmares about our cake being ruined, lol.

  7. I had no idea that arranging a bridal shower would use so much time but it was worth it! We got the bride a personalized 'born to be bride' beer mug with her picture printed on the front. Discovered this website that lets you customize your own shirts, beer mugs, invitations and lots of other neat things.

    2. YES! I can't quite afford it right now sadly :( BUT I have been slowly collecting baking odds and ends AND I got a kitchenaid recently as a gift! I have figured out how to make fondant, but baking an actual delicious cake seems to elude me. I keep reverting to boxed mixes. But I watch Cake Boss avidly and am fascinated with modeling chocolate. One day, one day. I am pretty good in the kitchen so it's just a matter of time...

    3. I have had requests to put my recipes on here...I should do that. I have tried tons of purely scratch recipes and some that boxes are part of the ingredients that I can share. I usually buy Satin Ice fondant online because it tastes the best and is easiest to work with. Do you make marshmallow fondant? I've heard it's good but I am concerned about the stickiness.... I'll work on getting my recipes on my blog:)
