Guest Post - Liesl's Wet N Wild Toxic Apple

I'm back!  Well, sortof.  I am on a bit of a nail break...break.  I broke my middle nail on Saturday while trying to load a dresser into my vehicle at IKEA (with no help).  I managed to hoist it up there, but my nail didn't make it.  After much whining on some FB groups, a few caring/giving bloggers agreed to do guest posts for me.

Liesl and I have been kindred spirits (anyone remember Anne of Green Gables?) since we started blogging around March of this year.  We have gotten to know each other very well. It's so nice to have a fellow blogger to bounce ideas off of, vent/laugh/cry with....Liesl is this person for me.  I admire her photos, nails, and her unique writing skills.  Please check out her blog and I am confident you will be hooked!  And here she is....

Hello!!  I'm Liesl from Liesl Loves Pretty Things, and I'm STOKED to be doing a guest post for Essie.  I was so honored when she asked, and when she did, I knew exactly what I wanted to do.  The problem was, I didn't own the polish I wanted to feature.  So let me start out by saying that it's a good thing I had Tuesday off, because my afternoon was spent hunting this thing down.  This post, and polish, really are special, lol. ;)
The polish is WetnWild Megalast Toxic Apple, one of six metallic shades from the brand new Pick Your Poison collection.  I tracked this polish all over two cities before finding it at the one place I knew for sure carried it, and apparently the ONE store in my area (and by area I mean within a ten mile radius) that even has this collection.  Having said that, it should be coming to a Walgreens near you in early October.
Here it is.

In the bottle, Toxic Apple looks like a shimmery blackened purple.  Imagine my surprise when it came out an inky, saturated shade of blue. It's gorgeously dark and deep, and given an enchanted aura by blue and red shimmer.  I expected this to be a little more Halloween in feel, but while it's definitely dark and edgy, it's also more elegant and wearable than I anticipated.
I used two coats, which is perfect for evening out the edges.  WnW Megalasts have those big, moppy brushes, and while I like them because they fit my nails nicely, this one was a little on the wonky side.  Still, cleanup was very minimal.  Toxic Apple also looks to be a dead ringer for OPI's popular and lovely Russian Navy.  At $1.99 versus $8.50, this is a perfect alternative.

Thank you for reading!  Have an amazing day. :)

  1. This is gorgeous! I love it. I hope your nail recovers soon! I had a carrying a 300 lb TV vs Nail incident on my right hand, but I couldn't bear to cut it on my left to match, so I'm mismatched.

    1. Isn't it? And I think I like it better named Toxic Apple than Russian Navy, lol. It seems more fitting, somehow.
