Hey All! I'm sure many of you have other hobbies in addition to nail polish:) I think painting your nails is a form of art, so most of us probably enjoy other artsy stuff. My other hobby is decorating cakes. I started in 2009 by taking a cake decorating class at my local Michaels Craft Store. Since then, I have decorated lots of cakes for my friends and family. I am making a cake this Friday for my daughter April, who is turning 7. The cake above is from her last birthday. I also LOVE owls so I talked her into letting me make her an owl cake:) I know this is a nail polish blog, but if you are interested in seeing more of my cakes, I would be happy to share. Just let me know! Also, if you have questions about cake decorating, feel free to ask. I love sharing ideas, etc.!
Great cake! Thanks for sharing. I wish I had your talent!
ReplyDeleteThanks - try it, your boys would love it!
DeleteThis is so dang cute! I've always thought about taking one of those classes at Michael's. You're really talented!
ReplyDeleteIt's so fun - you should totally do it!
DeleteWow, you're amazing! I've tried making my cakes look pretty, but I settle for just tasting good. ;) Do you ever use fondant?
ReplyDeleteI normally just use fondant for decorations - I don't usually cover the cake with it because it doesn't taste the best. The kids eat all of the decorations though and say it tastes like marshmallows. I buy my fondant online and it tastes a little better... Thanks for the compliment:)
DeleteI love owls and this cake is FABULOUS!!! Super adorable!!! I love to cook and bake as well but have never messed with fondant. It's a great release for me and something I like to do other than painting my nails that's a nice stress-reliever
ReplyDeleteThank you! Fondant is pretty fun to work with - it's like Play Doh :) You should try it sometime. I buy yummy stuff called Satin Ice at Global Sugar Art .com It tastes way better than the fondant you buy in the store.
